Vision Statement 2012
By the year 2012, Parsons will be a prosperous community with a downtown that is filled with a diverse mix of businesses-retail, service, restaurants, professional offices, entertainment, and niche shops.  The downtown area will be friendly to pedestrians and will have the added benefit of a cultural experience by the introduction of art in stone or bronze pieces.  This “gathering space” will be extended to embrace adjoining blocks. Vacant lots in the downtown district will be built upon with buildings conducive to the downtown setting with emphasis on continued development of second story housing. To encourage second story living downtown, steps will have been taken to accommodate amenities for such.  This development will come from a combination of local and outside commercial investment.  Development of the “L” shape corridor from US Highway 400 to the Downtown area will be an attractive, clean, and inviting approach to the downtown.  In addition, a well planned entrance into the downtown district (16th & Main) will be developed strategically to capture the attention of passers-by and reflect the history and vitality of downtown.  Parsons would be a recognized regional destination for medical, education, entertainment and shopping.  Building on the success of the past and the strength of our friendly, family-oriented community, the continued growth and redevelopment of the downtown district will be a benefit to the entire community
